YouTube: sync video between users

It would be really nice if, instead of having one video hanging around at the top, it would:

• Synchronize between users
• Have its own playlist, where users choose which video play next (!yt $URL)

This seems reasonable, and I would assume it would be an addition to the existing youtube widget where a user with > X powerlevel can control it via events to other users. This does have some drawbacks however:

Events are often slow and unpredictable. Ever tried having a conversation with a fully loaded synapse and another server, it's not pretty. You'd need to do it via EDU events and I don't believe we have a way to shoot custom events into the room yet.

To be honest I'd even go as far as to say you'd be better off using an existing service like you listed as a widget, perhaps with some smart Riot integration.

It's a super cool idea that I love, I've used a similar service to watch lots of fun stuff with friends.
