playback of video files is very unreliable #1745

tapping on the 'play' button triangle tends to do nothing; you have to keep tapping and waiting and trying again until it eventually plays. even then, it tends not to play the whole file

In my case, I have never been able to get an uploaded video to play in the iOS app. It always, 100% of the time gives a popup that says "Cannot open". I'm testing with webm files. Using an iPod touch running iOS 9.3.5.

I've been noticing the same thing recently. According to @aaron:matrix.org in #riot-ios:matrix.org today, this seems to happen when there are e.g. new messages or read receipts in the room, and I think that tracks with what I've observed. (My friends are starting to use video messages more, which is making this much more noticeable.)
