Translate mobile store assets

In order to increase the visibility of the Element X mobile applications, we want to translate the assets (title, short description, long description) on the mobile stores (Apple store, Play Store and F-Droid), so that people who do not speak English can still understand what the application is doing.

Note: On Element Android is has been done using a Weblate project, but we want to use Localazy now, even if the workflow does not seem to be as straight forward.

Element X is the future Element.

It is the brand new, and fastest ever, Matrix client. It is for personal and community use, and will support enterprise functionality later this year.

A complete new build, Element X transforms performance. It’s not just the fastest Matrix client, it’s also fresher and more reliable.

It’s so fast for a number of reasons, but in particular we’ve introduced a completely new syncing service (‘sliding sync’). So even in big end-to-end encrypted chat rooms it operates incredibly quickly.

It’s fresher because we’ve rebuilt the entire user experience. All the power of Matrix - and the complexity of decentralized end-to-end encryption - is now hidden under a beautiful and intuitive user interface using the very latest frameworks and accessibility features.

Element X delivers speed, usability and reliability on the decentralized Matrix open standard.

Own your data Matrix-based, Element X lets you self-host your data or choose from any free public server (the default is matrix.org, but there are plenty of others to choose from). However you host, you have ownership; it’s your data. You’re not the product. You’re in control.

Interoperate natively Enjoy the freedom of the Matrix open standard! You have native interoperability with any other Matrix-based app. So just like email, it doesn't matter if your friends are on a different Matrix-based app you can still connect and chat.

Tasks

Prerequisite

[ ] Validate that the current assets are still OK. If not, the first thing to do is to update them. @amshakal can you help here please?

Common

[ ] Create a new public project on Localazy at https://localazy.com/o/element.io to host those 3 assets
[ ] Add the existing (or updated) assets to the localazy project
[ ] Add the constraints on the strings, which also apply to the translated ones. The PlayStore has those constraints: title: 30 chars max, short description: 80 chars max, long description: 4000 chars max.
[ ] The community will start translate the assets

Android

[ ] Add automation to sync those strings on Android project: this will create PR on the Android project https://github.com/element-hq/element-x-android
[ ] Add automation to push assets to the PlayStore using fastlane (refer to the Element Android project script and Fastfile) - note that there is nothing particular to do for F-Droid.

iOS

[ ] Add automation to sync those strings on iOS project: this will create PR on the iOS project https://github.com/element-hq/element-x-ios
[ ] Add automation to push asset to the App Store

Notes

Due to the level of impact that bad / wrong translations can have, we will need to be very careful when integrating new translations or change in existing translations by always checking them using an external translation tool.
