Subscription to riot.im with an IPv6-only email address fails #611

Description

I tried to subscribe to riot.im via https://riot.im/app/#/register and used an IPv6-only email address for that. Since then I neither got any verification email, nor is it possibe to send email reminders.

Steps to reproduce

Use an Email Address with AAAA-only MX like motp@penguin.de to subscribe to riot.im

Expected: Verification Email Real: No Verification Email

There is a high probability, that you missed smtp-support for IPv6 on the system which sends out verification emails. It is also possible that the Webinterface is somewhat broken in this regard.

Please check your logs and email bounces for error messages containing motp@penguin.de as subscriber.

This is an issue with the vector.im Identity Server not with riot-web

Flagging as an ops problem and a Synapse problem as one of those two teams will need to look into it.
