Cannot create chat with user that is already in a group chat

Description

I cannot create a one-to-one chat with a user that is already in a group chat.

Steps to reproduce

• Create chat with two other users
• Click on "Start a chat" to create a new chat
• Type the name of one of those users in the search field
• Confirm and start chat

Describe how what happens differs from what you expected.

Focus on the group chat. No one-to-one chat is created.

Version information

• Platform: both web and desktop

For the web app:

• Browser: Firefox 72.0.1 (64-bit)
• OS: Ubuntu
• URL: private server, riot-web version: 1.5.8

For the desktop app:

• OS: Ubuntu
• Version: riot-web version: 1.5.10

@saveriob can you send logs for this one please? Where are you clicking 'Start a chat'?

I just sent the logs. See the attached screenshot. A room with Andrea and Paolo already exists. I click on the + sign (first screenshot) to create a new chat with Paolo only. When I confirm (second screenshot), I land on the group chat again and no one-to-one chat is created.
