Can't create "people" rooms with more than 2 people #15021

Open MightyCreak opened 4 years ago

MightyCreak commented 4 years ago

Description

Since Riot became Element, creating a "people" room with more than 2 persons goes straight to the "Rooms" section, instead of the "People" section (bug verified with @uhoreg).

Steps to reproduce

The room should be created in the People section, since we've hit the People section "+" sign, but instead it is created in the "Rooms" section.

Note: before, we could change the type of the room, and thus move them from "People" to "Rooms" and back, as desired. We've lost this feature.

Logs being sent: yes

Version information

For the desktop app:

Before you fix this bug, it would be nice if we could still be able to move some of my rooms back to the "People" section. Because otherwise I would have a lot of "People" rooms staying in the "Rooms" sections. Thx

DMs as far as Element is concerned can only have one other main participant. So should only contain 2 users.

This is a bug - it's supposed to be in the DMs.

We've recently converted from Slack to Element, and this is a feature that we're missing, so just a vote to fix this.

MightyCreak commented 2 years ago

@audunmb a workaround is to use the commands /converttodm or /converttoroom (in the web or desktop app) to convert the room from one to the other, but this is account-specific so the other users in the room will continue to see it in the wrong category until they run the command themselves.
