6 years ago Hi, that was me, I am new to Riot.im and Matrix, I am trying to use it as an alternative to another IM/VOIP service (which isn't working out well for my preferred platform at the moment), and I am resisting pressure to switch to WhatsApp. I had no idea that a report like this would go straight to github 😄. I'll try to help with some more info about what happened, although I don't know how easy it will be to investigate.
I was using Riot.im from F-droid under Sailfish OS + Alien Dalvik (version 0.7.03 (F-45a3aba)) The other person was using the current version of Riot.im (0.6.8) on iOS, and we were trying to make voice calls to each other to see how well it would work. We found two rather critical problems:
- sometimes only one of us could hear the other one.
- sometimes when I accepted the call, the other person still heard the ringtone instead of getting through to me.
Ideally I would like to use VOIP with a native Sailfish OS Matrix client of course, but no such client exists yet AFAICS.
I may try the build from the Google Play store (via Yalp) if that makes a difference. I'll help with more info as and when I can. The other person that I mainly want to use this with is not a techie though, so spending a lot of social time on this kind of thing would be a bit unfair on them.
