Summary URL Preview implementations vary between platforms. iOS has no implementation, and there are visual differences between Web & Android.

Intended outcome Unify the URL experience across all platforms.

Would also be nice if there was an option to embed video links, even if it's handled entirely at the client end. I understand this can expose one's IP and so to some this can present a security issue, but if it was made into a user option and disabled by default, I see no downside.

In other words, if someone links directly to a .mp4 or .webm, etc, it would be nice if the element client could embed the video into the chat similar to other chat services (RocketChat, Discord, etc). I would imagine most of this is just browser implementation, and considering that this functionality already exists for videos uploaded directly to the Matrix server itself, I can't imagine this is too big of an ask.
