Nothing renders after latest update

What Happened?

After running the latest batch of updates Web no longer renders pages. I get a completely blank page. It seems to be a graphical issue as the loading status seems normal and moving the mouse over the blank page does change the cursor and show hyperlinks in the status bar at the bottom of the window.

Steps to Reproduce

I just ran all updates that were available at the time and ended up with Web 45.1 and no pages rendering on screen. AppCenter currently shows no updates pending.

Expected Behavior

Before the updates pages were rendering fine and now they are not.

Hardware Info

I am running Elementary in a VM on proxmox using the basic default settings for bios, display, machine, with a virtio scsi controller and virtio network device. I am using 2 cores and 4GB of RAM. The CPU type is host and the underlying hardware is an intel mac mini with a 2.3Ghz core i7 cpu. I have been running elementary off and on since version 6 on this machine with relatively few issues with the supported feature set of Elementary.

Can you confirm that org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default//23.08 is installed? you can do that by running flatpak info org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default//23.08.

It looks like we're installing 22.08 in packaging so that might need to be updated if there's 23.08 available

Confirmed. On my system it is 22.08 that is installed, not 23.08.

 flatpak install --system freedesktop org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default//23.08{,-extra}
 flatpak pin --remove runtime/org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default/x86_64/23.08
 flatpak pin --remove runtime/org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default/x86_64/23.08-extra

The flatpak pin --remove steps are there because, otherwise, the extensions won't be auto-removed when not needed anymore.

The same issue occurred for me from a fresh install on hardware. I installed the firefox snap which forced an update to 23.08 by the looks of things. Afterwards, the issue has been resolved and "Web" works just fine.

One of them likely caused an updated version (org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.default//23.08) to be installed as a dependency which resolved your issue. The same thing happened for me, my catalyst was just the Firefox snap.

• install all recommended updates
• restart (as asked)

then browser displays only blank pages.
