I'm :-1: on this by default; I have to change my pointer speed all the way up for it to move anywhere near as "fast" as it feels with acceleration, and then it's super jittery and less precise at slow speeds. This is compounded by using a medium- to large-sized display, where I have to move my mouse a large distance on the desk to even get from one side of the display to the other.
We already default to "Hardware default," so specialized pointing devices should do the right thing (according to the LibInput rules). And it's easy enough to turn acceleration off if one prefers it, but I don't think forcing it off for all users of all mouse devices is the right way to go.
That may be a matter of opinion, but I would propose to disable pointer acceleration by default. (only for mouse not for touch-pads)
