This is already implemented, you linked to an old commit.

This has not been fixed in the 'meson' branch!

To be precise, the last commit to that file in the meson branch is 33daecaab4a6deabdd92025d44e40b76391bb822

The meson branch is a work in progress port of the build system from CMake to Meson that is behind in commits, only master is in use.
