Can confirm this also happens in VMware Workstation 17
@leolost2605 is it possible to position the dock with Gala in the X11 session as well?
Got it too
Don't know it is related, but while using chromium-browser, when clicking on right side of screen it counts as clicking wallpaper, not chromium window. Please look at context menu (right click on chromium)
@danirabbit sorry I kinda didn't get notified about this mention I think 😬
I guess it would somehow be possible although not via gala but via the dock where we would have to pull in the X library and do it with that? Also I'm not sure how to do the autohiding but I guess we could copy the plank code? I'm really not familiar with how the X windowing system works and how it does stuff. I think the easiest way might still be to keep plank around for the X session
Closing since we merged the branch to not launch the new dock under X11
What Happened?
I just installed the daily build of Elementary OS 8.0 "elementaryos-8.0-daily.20240525" in VirtualBox. The Dock is appearing in the middle of the screen and not at the bottom-side. Changing the screen resolution does not fix the issue.
Steps to Reproduce
Expected Behavior
The Dock should be at the bottom-side of the screen.
