Document Packaging Godot Games #119

Open danirabbit opened 3 years ago

danirabbit commented 3 years ago

Problem

There aren't many games being built for elementary OS at the moment and that's a shame. It would be nice to give indie game developers the same path to monetizing and distributing as indie app developers

Proposal

We've talked before about documenting the process of Flatpaking games, in particular using the Godot game engine since it's open source

Prior Art

An issue report for documenting Godot Flatpaks exists here with some information on how to build an example: https://github.com/godotengine/godot-docs/issues/2993

As a note, would we need to update the Flathub filter to allow the Godot BaseApp, or package our own Godot BaseApp in the AppCenter repo?

jalcine commented 1 year ago

Would be best to enable the filter for the Godot base app, it's been getting a lot of work done on it. However, would this be something (the filter) that would be needed when the new means of deploying apps to AppCenter is out?
