Thumbnailed files have little contrast with background #1791

What Happened

Screenshot from 2021-08-18 13-24-42

Thumbnailed documents have little contrast with the background, making it very hard to discern where the thumnail starts or ends, in turn making it difficult to click on it. In some cases it is hard to see whether the thumbnail is even there.

Expected Behavior

Add some sort of border and drop shadow to each thumbnail to make them have more contrast with background

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a thumbnailable file, like a PDF
  2. Observe the thumbnail in Files

This is going to happen for e.g. a pdf that consists mostly of blank paper that matches the color of folder background. As a work around you can use dark mode to make the folder background contrasting.

Nautilus seems to fix this by adding a narrow grey outline to thumbnails (pity the thumbnailer doesnt do this). Need UX team input as to the best solution.
