I'd like to confirm the host name feature is working in a daily ISO before releasing this. I was not able to confirm that it was working with my code. I'm worried that branch was merged prematurely

I confirmed it worked before merging, and also just confirmed with the latest daily ISO. The hostname is shown in Initial Setup, and I am able to change it without errors—and it persists correctly with the pretty and standard names.

I think I'd like to try to get https://github.com/elementary/initial-setup/pull/100 in as well if we can get someone to review it this week
