What Happened?

This problem is still there, its always the elementary os installer since its have changed and dont use ubuntu installer,

Its neraly impossible to install. First the drive could not be find, but this get fixed when unplug all drives or usb stuff, and second it just C'ANT install on some computers for whatever reason, i tried raw write to usb, rufus, and last balena etcher... And still its just impossible to install when select customized install so i can choose the drive my self, i dont want to loose any content on that drive so i dont format it.

Never i had a problem on that with other ubuntu installer but this elementary installer feels like its still in alpha. I would love if i could use the ubuntu installer on elementary, that would fix these problems instant.

The fat partition is over 265mb And i have 16gb ram

The computer i use is an acer predator helios 300

The last succesfull install was in a vm, where i had to use a passtrough for the drive i want to install. And that worked, but native it always fails

Steps to Reproduce

Get iso from elementary os 7.1

Flash iso with balena etcher on windows on a 32gb formated usb drive

Choose customized install and select the drive

Installer starts and fails after 5 seconds

INFO: Extracting /cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs ERROR: extracting error archive extraction failed with status: exit status: 1

Expected Behavior

To install Eos just fine like it would do on any ubuntu based os. The elementary installer is just broke since it got replaced by ubuntu one

OS Version

7.x (Horus)

Software Version

Latest release (I have run all updates)

Ditto. Tried 3 different USB devices and burnt from both my eOS6.1 (now bricked) and the OSX I am writing this from...

I used my existing buildin sdd, did a partition for fat32, and then just booted from this and installed. It worked ,no need for an usb

Thanks. I installed the ISO from Balena on a completely separate drive and still nothing :(

Try to formate the drive u using with fat32 not a usb or anything, just a partition on the hard drive and use rufus
