There's already backspace to send to the trash. I don't see why we couldn't make delete do the same. But I'm hesitant about a single key that performs a permanent action that could lead to data loss

Backspace doesn't do anything in the Photo Viewer. I can't figured out any way to delete or send to trash other than finding the pictures one by one in Files.

To clarify, this bug concerns the Photo Viewer program, not the full Pantheon Photos. It's currently impossible to delete/trash images without either importing them to the library first or hunting them one by one with a file manager.
Here's the same bug on the Shotwell bug tracker: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=716339

Confirming this report, but for data safety we should Trash instead of deleting immediately

Or we could just ask for confirmation before deleting.

Bump. Are there any news on this?
I had to bump. I am sorry.
Hi guys.
Gnome Image Viewer (EOG) example: "Move to Trash" option.
Are we going to have it on Odin 6.0?
"EOG" has a very nice feature. You can delete a photo by press DEL-Key in the Preview. This feature helps, very fast, to clean poor photos after a photo shooting.
I think it's a useful feature.
What do you think about that?
