Background
I am beginning to use photos as a primary storage for my large collection of images (20 years of photography).
I shoot now RAW+JPEG, and notice that both images are imported 'as a pair'. However, the RAW is the file that is 'shown' to the user, and there's no way for the user to access the JPEG, without finding the file in the filesystem and accessing that way.
I have used a number of DAM systems in the past (e.g. Pixmantec Rawshooter, Aperture, Lightroom) and there's the concept of being to be able to create 'versions' of images and have them show as a grouped 'stack' that can be collapsed / expanded.
Requirements for consideration
Highest priority:
A method for the user accessing either the RAW or the JPEG image from an imported pair
Implementation: for example as as part of a grouped stack on thumbnail view, or right click 'view RAW' or 'view JPEG', or right hand panel.
A method for the user creating different 'versions' of a same image, and have those versions be accessible to the user.
Implementation: either as a grouped stack accessible on thumbnail view, right click on image under a 'Versions' heading, or in right hand panel showing a list of the versions.
