Bring back the elementary logo #18

Problem

My understanding is that the elementary logo was removed so that the device vendor uefi logo would be more prominent during boot.

But this change made me sad.

Proposal

Bring back the elementary logo but similar to what other distributions do which is the vendor logo in the middle of the screen, the spinner as it is currently, and a small elementary logo near the bottom.

Prior Art (Optional)

Other distributions' Plymouth splash screens such as Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE.

So it appears it's only a matter of adding a watermark.png file to the theme folder, will do that and post a screenshot shortly.

I'm glad you brought this back. Visual indicators like this are excellent especially when doing virtual machine development and tbh is a good way to keep the brand strong. Even though I rarely see this screen on my laptop because of its fast booting, lol. Would love to see this merged.

I think it was fixed in eOS 7? elementary logo is now shows if OEM logo is missing, which is good enough for a bootscreen to keep it minimalistic.

What about not "unbalancing" the visual effect by having the Logo and the spinner, and simply have the logo pulse glowing or something like that, in miniature where the spinner is now.

(And please understand that when i say simply I have absolutely no idea how simple or complex this task would be)

Thanks for your comment.

This is the scope I had originally intended - keep it simple - only add a watermark.png file - created by anyone not as graphically challenged as me :-) and position it around the middle+lower end of the splash screen.

See https://github.com/elementary/plymouth-theme/pull/20 for my proposed change - if anyone wants to revisit?

The boot screen could show the device manufacturer's logo first, which would fade out and the elementary logo would fade in. This way there would not be 2 logos shown at the same time. I prefer the screen to look more minimal.

afaik, vendor logo could be added with OEM customizations in older versions as well. on devices purchased with freedos or any "other" operating system, it isn't very constructive for the end user to see the vendor logo via uefi.
