Seeing that the Mouse & Touch plug recently introduced separate pages for mouse and touchpad, would it make sense to add this wacom tablet as a page in that plug? Maybe turn it into a general Pen / Stylus page?
This way the settings might also be able to support alternative styluses like the one for the HP Spectre line.
I started working on this by creating a dedicated standalone plug: https://github.com/Alecaddd/switchboard-plug-tablet
I'm following the structure of the Mouse & Touch plug to have different pages for Display, Stylus, and Pad Button/Ringer. I have a couple of graphics tablets from different brands I can test to be sure it works not only with Wacom tablets.
Yes please :+1:
I'm back on this issue now that I have a bit of capacity.
In order to implement this, I need to install extra gSettings currently not available in elementary OS, specifically for tablet
, stylus
, and pad-button
.
These are the settings used in Gnome: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gsettings-desktop-schemas/blob/master/schemas/org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.gschema.xml.in#L8
How do you guys wish to handle this?
Do you want me to create and install these settings outside the org.gnome.desktop
domain?
Can these settings be added to what we currently have in elementary OS?
Is this something you have to do or can I install these extra settings inside the GNOME existing domain?
I guess I procrastinated a bit too long since this is almost completed: https://github.com/elementary/switchboard-plug-wacom
Good to know
Gonna move this to seeds
since the wacom plug now exists
Closing because the latest 6.0 daily includes the wacom plug
