Add a timer option to Do Not Disturb mode #83

Open apcamargo opened 7 years ago

apcamargo commented 7 years ago

Many people disable notifications when they want to concentrate on some task and it's not unusual to forget to turn them on again. It'd be nice to add a timer to the 'Do Not Disturb' mode, just like some messenger applications already do.

It would be great!

I wonder if the best place for this is in the Wingpanel

There could be another toggle for timer appearing after Do Not Disturb is toggled on. Clicking it would open Switchboard with appropriate settings. Just an idea.

There could be another toggle for timer appearing after Do Not Disturb is toggled on.

The second toggle I mentioned before could have some default value (say 1 hour), that could be configured from switchboard. This way there would be just two toggles in the indicator, one greyed out unless the other is enabled.

However I think that the user is already informed about the state of "Do not disturb" just by looking at the indicator icon. I think the original goal was to make it easily visible and noticible when it's enabled/disabled and this still works as intended.

Making a note that any UI here depends on https://github.com/elementary/settings-daemon/issues/11
