1 year ago Issue resolution. Mozilla installs from flatpak (Firefox and Thunderbird) exhibited unusual behavior outlined in the issue above. Attachments to emails in Thunderbird OR Firefox (gmail, hotmail) failed to launch the file browser.
Installations of Thunderbird and Firefox directly from Mozilla resolved this issue completely. As the flatpaks were not updating to latest versions, it is unknown if this issue has been resolved in the interim from flathub.
Firefox now reports it is the default browser which was unsuccessful previously.
What Happened?
Hyperlinks fail to launch from Thunderbird - cannot launch or open new tab in default browser
Steps to Reproduce
Open Firefox (111.01 Flatpak) > Settings > Click 'Make default' Fails to make Firefox Default
Open Google Chrome (Version 111.0.5563.64 (Official Build) unknown (64-bit)) > Settings > Default browser Fails to determine or set default
Open elementary OS 7 Horus Settings > Applications > Defaults Thunderbird & Firefox/Chrome fail to set as default applications
Open Thunderbird (102.9.0 (64-bit) flatpak > Hyperlink in message fails to launch any browser - none are set!
Expected Behavior
Expect Settings >Applications >Defaults to actively make or trigger a specific app to become the system default which it seems to be failing to do so.
