Bug Report: External WiFi device may cause WiFi service to hang
UX report: Device name in WiFi and Hotspot are inconsistent and doesn't fit into the sidebar. It can easily cause confusion as it did in this case.
I tried to use my laptop as access point by setting an external Wifi device (TP-Link WN722N) as hotspot sharing the WiFi network built-in d
What I mean by entire OS got frozen is that, switching TTY wasn't possible either.evice connected to .
Due to device name not fitting to sidebar of network window, I mixed up built-in wifi as external wifi and turned it into hotspot. I noticed that and reconnected it back to WiFi I wanted to extend. Then I used external device to create hotspot. Only Network window got frozen at this point. I decided to log out and log back in to "fix" frozen System Settings > Network window about after 5 minutes. At this point the entire OS got frozen. Switching TTY wasn't possible. I had to force shutdown using power button.
