Sounds missing for the system #98

  1. I think the system could use a nice little notification sound when plug and unplug devices.

    • It is a way of knowing that the system detected my device without having to go to the file explorer or the settings panel to verify that my device has been recognized.
    • It would be good to notify that the device has already been released by the system and it is safe to disconnect it.

  2. A nice welcome sound when entering the system after power-up would be great.

    • I firmly believe that it would bring more personality to the system

Intro theme is just a reference for a general sound theme for the OS. I don't see this one being used as system sounds but it works for youtube videos or tutorial videos. Similar in concept to Windows XP Tour music.

Use them as you will. I only saw the triage a while ago. Let me know if we need device connected and disconnected sounds. These are all made using elementary apps like Ensembles, Reco, along with Audacity and RoseGarden(for intro).

I stole the ocean-sound-theme from the KDE (neon) archive and it's quite nice IMHO - would be nice to have a modernised and more comprehensive sound theme. By modernised I mean , for example , when the "restart required" notification pops up - the sound is currently a quite-shrill "tring" (even though it's not jarring) - would be nice to be more "mellow" (softer).

Also, I'd love to have a nice ping/boop sound when the auth dialog pops up - like when you type pkexec whoami in the terminal - for admin/sudo authentication - prior art being the windows UAC admin prompt.

Oh, I also noticed the Files app plays the freedesktop sound for the empty-trash action, even if I have installed the ocean-sound-theme - so I will try to propose a "pre-emptive" PR to not hardcode the theme to freedesktop and to pick the current one - the elementary theme inherits from freedesktop so should continue to work as before.
