What Happened

Screenshot from 2021-08-19 09-44-15@2x

wallpaper

Sometimes (I don’t know what triggers it) wingpanel appears:

This is in addition to the currently expected behaviour of it appearing with an opaque background when a window is snapped to screen left/right or maximised.

Expected Behavior

It would pick one and stick to it :)

Steps to Reproduce

I can’t consistently reproduce it.

This seems like the same problem as detailed in issue #358.

I’ve updated that issue with error messages from the terminal logs from launching wingpanel manually at https://github.com/elementary/wingpanel/issues/358#issuecomment-907303453

PS. The closest I’ve come to a workaround to this (it’s now permanently displaying with a transparent background and I’m trying to record the screen) is to turn off the transparency altogether:

gsettings set io.elementary.desktop.wingpanel use-transparency false
