Support for Self-Hosted HLS/.m3u8 in Video Element #11529

Prerequisites

What problem is your feature request going to solve? Please describe. Cannot display HLS (Http Live Stream) .m3u8 through video elements using the self-hosted option.

Describe the solution you'd like It would be great if there could be a way to support HLS/DASH from the video element using videojs or similar HTML 5 players.

I see this was opened a little over a year ago. I have recently come to look for this same ability. I would love to see this feature implemented to enable use of HLS video natively via self-hosted option.
