Intuative margin and padding #5018

Open bentalgad opened 6 years ago

bentalgad commented 6 years ago

Prerequisites

Margin and padding are basic design tasks that needs to be fast and easy Clicking element, then clicking the advenced tab then unlinking the four parameters (if needed and a lot of times it's needed), the typing numbers is so slow for desigers.

The solution is simple and is used in most visual builders Just using the mouse to drag margin and paddings like that: 2018-07-11 00 21 12

Works on divi, brizy, oxygen and others...

Any news with that? do you think your going to implement that some time in the near future?

jazir555 commented 5 years ago

Is this going to be added in the near future? This is a truly major feature i need, adjusting element position in elementor is currently the worst part of the plugin.

Xanemi commented 5 years ago

That's what i'm talking about. Pls pls :D

jazir555 commented 5 years ago

This is a bug i experience and would be rectified by this feature. When i adjust the horizontal margin of a column by dragging on the edges, the vertical margins adjust as well.

It seems that the issue is that elementor links the vertical and horizontal margins of the column. This means that when i adjust the horizontal margins, i then have to also readjust my vertical margins. this is especially annoying when trying to place images. For example: I've set an image at a size and position i want, but then i need to resize the column. changing the width of the column enlarges or shrinks the image and places it out of the position i want, rather than just adjust the image horizontally to the left or the right.

This could easily be solved by unlinking the vertical and horizontal margins when visually editing them and allowing them to be adjusted independently. Currently you can only drag and drop sideways, unlinking it so that i can separately drag up and down without the vertical margins affecting the horizontal ones and vice versa to adjust the margins would make my life so much easier.

Still Waiting :)

bentalgad commented 5 years ago

Another plugin that does this right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=84&v=kFANGxXh6Fw

Still waiting for elementor to step in :)

bentalgad commented 5 years ago

Wow, i am excited to see it's reopened, does it mean will see it in the near future?

parasshah195 commented 5 years ago

+1. Would definitely save a LOT of time on designing pages.. Currently, it takes around 3-4 clicks to edit the padding and margin on an element.

Still waiting...

black-eye commented 4 years ago

At least there are skilful developers, who are tired of waiting ;-) https://pixify.net/products/designer-powerup-for-elementor/features/quick-spacer/

Sad thing is, that Elementor has become some kind of DIY platform, where if you want a nice feature, you have to code it on your own. ;-)

parasshah195 commented 4 years ago

@black-eye Thanks for the mention.

We initially built this for our own needs (you can see my comment above from Feb 2019) and the solution ended up to be smooth and intuitive so we planned to release it as a part of the addon. Any suggestions are welcome :)

+1 I love Elementor, to bad this one thing is better in some other pagebuilders. Wonder why they keep postponing this feature?

parasshah195 commented 3 years ago

@LogoLogics2, this might not be coming in Elementor anytime soon. The reason for that is, they probably want to keep the interface simple and not clutter it. For a good segment of the user base, it might complicate things instead of simplifying it. There are lots of factors that have to be considered before deciding whether to build a feature or not.

In the preview pane (where you drag and drop), there's already the column width dragging, navigator, editing UI for the selected element (move, add, copy, duplicate, delete options).

This is why I built it myself in an add-on, which you can have a look at here.

LogoLogics2 commented 3 years ago

@parasshah195 , there must be a good reason for them not to integrate this, they innovate so much more. However, the other builders do not seem to be slowing down sites either and yet have this incorporated.

I am looking at your plugin as we speak, looks promising!

Still not here...

jazir555 commented 3 years ago

Please add this. I'm using designer powerup by pixify to solve this, but I really would like it to be part of Elementor core.
