Mobile Data not working at all

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Test 1
(wifi off, mobile data off)
1. Activate mobile data

Test 2
(wifi off, mobile data off)
1. Activate wifi
2. Activate mobile data
3- Deactivate wifi

Test 3
(wifi off, mobile data off)
1. Activate mobile data
2. Activate airplane mode
3. Deactivate airplane mode

Test 4
(wifi off, mobile data on)
1. Deactivate mobile data
2. Checked Use only 2G Networks
3. Activate mobile data

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect Internet Connection (mobile provider and simcard works, tested on 
another cellphone). On each test performed I tried to force mobile data 
connection, unsuccessfully every time.
There is no indicator of mobile data connection, and no actual internet 
connection (tested with several applications, even ping from terminal).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
HTC Inspire 4G
JellyTime_42_R8
base_band 12.69a.60.29U_26.17.14.11_M
kernel 3.0.76_JellyTime_42_R8-ge6bf463
