Alternate keyboard not staying default #37

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install SwiftKey
2. Enable SwiftKey and set SwiftKey as default keyboard
3. Reboot Phone
4. Go to type something and find it is back to Android default and SwiftKey is
no longer enabled.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect SwiftKey (or any other alternate keyboard) to stay default through a
reboot.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
JellyTime Beta 11, HTC Desire HD, SwiftKey 3.0.0.302.

Please provide any additional information below.
Not sure if this is ROM or software related, but it worked fine on stock
unrooted Gingerbread before installing JellyTime. Cannot find anything to do
with SwiftKey in a logcat, but can put it up if required.

I have the same issue with Smart Keyboard Pro on this Rom.

Also get the same issue with Thumb Keyboard on the VegaBean Rom on my Advent
Vega tablet.

Seems to be a JB related issue.
Never had this on any ICS / GB Rom on either device.

I haven't yet tested if this fixes the issue, but the issue does seem to be
with 4.1.1

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788839

basically says backup application, uninstall, reinstall from backup.

I had the same problem with Swiftkey, Beautful widgets and a number of other
apps. It appears to be a bug in Jellybean.

backing up and restoring will solve the problem (I used mybackuppro).

(Jellybean R8)

For me it's similar, whenever I reboot the phone or connect via USB the
following happens:
Swiftkey - doesn't stay as default keyboard.

Widgets of the following apps disappear from Homescreens;

Beautiful Widgets (Purchased)
Agenda Widget Plus (Purchased)

This problem appeared on the following versions of JellyTime, each after Full
Wipe:

R4 R5 R7 R9.1 R10 R11

I would like to add that this may be a CM or JB bug in general, I have an LG
Optimus Black and the problem appears on it too just like on my HTC Desire HD
as mentioned earlier. The LG OB runs on the official CM10 Nightly :)

Same issue for me using Andriod 4 with Smart Keyboard Pro. It worked great on
my Droid X2, but this phone won't open it at all, even though it's been set as
the default. Have uninstalled, reinstalled, re-started, etc. It's frustrating
when you pay for an app and cannot use it.

Ditto on my US AT&T S3, JB 4.1.1 phone. SwiftKey 3, Thumb kb, and even the
Swype kb that is included as stock all reset to the. Samsung kb after reboot.
The backup / restore, and uninstiall / clear cache / reinstall tricks don't
work for me. I've even tried clearing system & dalvik cache from a recovery
boot before reinstalling an alternative kb without success.

Use a back up program.. I used my back up pro .. Back up your alternative
keyboard.. Then delete it.. Reboot phone then reinstalled the the keyboard from
your back up

There's an app on the Play store that addresses this flaw. The app will set
your desired keyboard on a reboot. Here's a link to it: http://goo.gl/k7QqS
