Auto Rotate is not functioning #89

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enable auto rotate in the display settings and in the launcher settings if
applicable.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The screen should rotate with the device, but it does not accomplish this.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
JellyTime R5.1

Please provide any additional information below.
I am using an Inspire 4g, full wipe, and inspiremod installed. This issue
originally began with R3. Previous versions rotated properly. This is also
occuring for me on Randomblame's AOKP 7 and on the CM10/AOKP Nightlies. It
seems that very few people are experiencing this, so I am unsure if the problem
will be easily found. Below, you will find a pastebin link to the logcat of me
enabling auto-rotate in the display settings only since I left the setting
enabled in the included Nova Launcher. Unfortunately, disabling and enabling it
there did not affect anything.

I tried to provide a dmesg, but I have had no luck because my computer says the
operation is not permitted. I tried using an app to extract it on the phone,
but that was a loss too. I was able to at least view the dmesg on my phone, and
have included a screenshot below (photobucket link) of what I am hoping is the
area you would need to view. It shows me disabling and enabling the auto-rotate
option in the display settings. As you can see, the compass enables, but the
AKM8975 g-sensor driver never does afterwards. I even went as far as searching
for the driver using Root Explorer, and (at least to my limited knowledge) it
is present in the rom. I am not sure if all of this information is necessary,
but I hope some of it helps in solving this problem. Thank you.

Copied boot.img from R2 to R3 and then flashed R3. Auto-rotation started
working in R3.
So This might be related to Kernel (I am no guru on this, but AFAIK boot.img
contains kernel).

After reading that, on a hunch, I downloaded a couple of old kernels: kb27 and
kb28. Auto rotation works on JellyTime 7.2 using kb28. I'm sure this older
kernel will cause other glitches, but the change occurred after that kernel. I
hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that it does not work in kb27.

By returning to stock, re-rooting, and then flashing JellyTime, auto rotation
now works. Although I don't consider this to be a true fix, I no longer have
the issue. The problem is gone, so it is your decision on whether or not to
leave this open.

I confirm ... Returning to stock , re-rooting and then flashing JellyTime fixes
the auto-rotation issue .

Please I have this same issue on my DHD. i have flashed different custom roms
but still autorotate and other sensors are not working. I have it enabled in
settings. The stock 2.3.3 works great with it. I have created a backup of the
2.3.3 and i restored and it worked.
