Losing GPS fix #94

I could write a whole story here, but in my opinion linking to an open issue on
the CyanogMOD tracker is a better option. So here you go:
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4299

Issue 4299 on their tracker was reported one year ago for CM7.1-RC1. However
the exact same problem still exist on any CM based ICS and JB ROM.
As you can see a lot of folks are experiencing the same problems, so it is not
an issue with my specific device. In fact, my phone had a complete board swap
in the mean time without any result.

Please read the comments carefully, since there are some really good pointers
to what might be the problem.

I've also had this issue (r23). Reboot sometimes cures it, then it arises
again randomly.

This drives me crazy. Drove to Chicago (50 mile trip) yesterday and it didn't
once lock on to GPS. Using R29 clean wipe no restore.

Can confirm that after flashing my baseband to the most recent (to solve
another issue) I have so far not had a re-occurrence of this problem.

The issue reported here is not related to the radio. The radios are from
official ROM's and the problem never existed on Sense ROMs, not even the stock
one. So radios are ruled out.

The issue is also not related to R29 specifically. Like I reported, the issue
was already present in the first release of CyanogenMOD for the DHD. Again, all
Sense based ROMs are fine!

A simple workaround I am using: Just toggle GPS off/on when the issue occurs,
without exiting Google Navigation.

Oh yeah... After using the toggle workaround, the issue will not return.

I had this issue with my stock rom before I rooted and started trying custom
roms. I also had the issue with r22 - r29 and with ICS and sense roms. Since
flashing my radio I haven't had this issue, though that wasn't why I flashed my
radio. If it reoccurs I'll post back.

Does the gps icon appear in the notification bar? If not try to do a backup and
restore of the rom. This solved it for me strangely enough.

I couldn't get any fix and didn't have any icon. Only until I updated to the
latest radio did I get perfectly functional GPS.

I was stuck on R23 for a while, because from a certain releases GPS did not
function at all.
Last week I decided to flash the latest JellyTime ROM plus a new radio, et
voila... GPS functioned again, even better: I never lost a fix!

This issue can be closed.

Hey guys I installed the latest ROM from here:
http://jellytime.googlecode.com/files/cm-JellyTime_42_R11.zip
And i just noticed today that gps is turned on but it doesn't work. The icon
doesn't show up and my location is not determined in google or yandex maps.
Google maps have some glitches as well.
What radio exactly do I need? None of the links in comments still work. Thanks.
