Manual Refresh #13

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

Also, there is no manual refresh option. I added a task due on Tuesday via
RTM web interface from my laptop and had to close then reopen BBRTM to see
the change. I don't know if there is a hard coded refresh cycle or not.

Yep, absolutely this is must, think about it, task management with bbrtm now
can be a
dynamic thing evolving as we input tasks either via desktop, bbrtm, email,
firefox,
etc etc and as such bbrtm needs to liberated of the of the crutches of having to
close and reopen the application in order to update itself.:)

I'd suggest in addition to the manual update menu option, eventually having an
option
in settings to auto-update on app load so the user can choose whether or not to
update when loading the app. Also a user definable auto-refresh cycle would be
nice,
eg. every 5, 10, or 15 mins, etc.

To elaborate on my previous comment, an option to turn off auto-update on app
launch
would appease users who want to get into the app quickly and look at their
current
"offline" list (once this is implemented).

Another suggestion for better design would be to go ahead and display the app
GUI
immediately upon app launch, then display a popup box/progress bar that shows
the app
is syncing with the website (to visually show the user that something is
happening),
instead of how the app GUI currently doesn't display at all until the synching
is
complete, which makes it appear the app is slow/hanging.

All great suggestions!

I will be adding some kind of status indicator to show that things are going on.

I found an example and also got some inspiration from the facebook application.

Keep the great suggestions coming!

Thanks,
Jason
