Initial specificacion:

Design based on CUTE-A7 and fully software compatible

FPGA copied with pinouts from CUTE-A7
6-layer stack up
Power supply copied from KASLI-DIOT
SMA connectors: 2x IO, PPS IN/OUT, 10MHZ IN/OUT, programmable RF out
MMCX connectors: 125MHz IN/OUT, additional GPIO; use SMA pigtails when needed
on-board low jitter synthesizer like LMX2572 with SYNC controlled from WR core
PCIe x2
support for PTM in gateware
SFP x2
USB serial with JTAG programmer
supplied from PCIe connector or external 12V barrel connector like in SPEC
compatible with Hammond/Bopla 100x160 enclosure (stand alone operation)
mezzanine connector (UART, a few GPIO, supply) for management card
optional management card with RJ45/SFP and IMX93 CPU connected to WR core via RGMII.
WR-NIC with Linux driver
mezzanine connector for Wenzel-DIOT board with LVDS links to Kasli: PPS, 10MHZ, IRIG-B, maybe Ethernet via MGT?

Some questions that comes to my mind:

What are expected use-cases?
Why go with different form-factor than Sinara/DIOT?
How (despite the onboard GPS) this is different from SPEC7? Maybe we could just make a FMC with extra features? If CERN has step pricing for XC7Z035-1FBG676C the price tag may not be that lower after all.

It's going to be ultra low cost minimalistic version of affordable WR node. Same gateware and hw can be used for Wenzel DIOT module.

So you basically want to mix https://ohwr.org/project/cute-wr-a7/wikis/home with https://ohwr.org/project/babywr/wikis/home and add GPS receiver?

I'm just curious if we could make it in a form-factor that would allow direct application in other projects (e.g. aforementioned Wenzel module) as a mezzanine or SOM?

I want a single low-cost minimalistic WR node without using expensive SOCs, mezzanine connectors, FMC panels, and modules because they all add cost and make the total solution at least 2kEUR per piece. I just found out the ARTIX-based WR-Cute version existed. The idea is to make a module for stand-alone applications that can also be a reference for our Wenzel module.
