Entering Results : When multiple scores entered for the same speaker, there no Validation and that room Locks Up #6

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
This problem simulates a situation where when entering the data, the tab entry
person doesn't change the names of speakers in the team (by default, 3tab puts
the the same speaker in every speaking position - within a drop down list so
you can choose the right person) or put the same person in two speaking
positions (a mistake or something that might happen when a speaker is speaking
as an iron-man). If you try to enter data without first ensuring every speaker
name is unique, there is no Warning and that room locks up (even after changing
speaker names, you cannot save data. Even if you exit the screen by going to
the tournament page and then coming back, you cannot enter any data into that
room).

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. At the Data Results Entry screen (tournament/debateResultsEntry/id/) enter a
result for the round without changing any of the speaker names
2. The data will not save. You can enter results for other rooms, but not this
one.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- a data-validation warning
- saving the data and taking you back to data entry screen after editing it

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- not sure what version, the Korea Australs version, 30th June
- Ubuntu 11

In the database, which room is the one with the problem?

the first and 3rd room, second room saves fine. There are edits to other rooms
where the problem was replicated but I don't remember exactly which rooms those
were, sorry.

I've been trying to reproduce this problem with the attached database but I
can't. In the case of the first room, if I open it, correct the speakers so
that they're no longer identical and enter the speaker scores, I can save it.
The room isn't locked in any way. Same story with the third room.

However, the complaints about the lack of validation are valid.

Validation problems are already recorded in issue 3.
