Symptome 1 sounds like you did not fully close Chrome before launching the modified version, so it instead of starting the modified Chrome it just opens a new tab/window of the already running instance. If it is not this, you may also try with MS Edge.
Others symptomes are consequence of the first one ;)
I have already tried running renderdoc in administrator
the versions I am using to do this: blender version 2.93 renderdoc version 1.13 most recent version of google chrome (with extensions such as adblockers and dark theme)
Whenever I start the modified chrome process, instead of what happened with your example where the chrome UI didn't display until you clicked ok, for me as soon as I clicked on the modified chrome shortcut it opened chrome properly and displayed the guid. If this does affect the over process of acquiring a google maps capture, could it be due to any chrome extensions?
After I inject renderdoc into the chrome process the API is set to none, I tried all of the fixes that were in the original mapsmodelsimporter repository but nothing worked, and yes I did click the right chrome process involving the GPU.
After I finished the 2nd step (thinking it must've been some inconsequential error) I followed the tutorial by closing the window which displayed the guid, this resulted in the connection getting cancelled and making renderdoc go back to the page which displays the process's when I tried to click on the same process I was met with an error.
I did more digging after this by checking the logs and I found out that the remote host disconnected had interrupted the connection and I was wondering why this was happening (if this is a problem).
