elifesciences / UX-features-roadmaps

A test attempt at moving some of the Product team feature definition and prioritisation into GitHub. The aim is to create more detailed feature definitions, provide more transparent prioritisation and more effective "linking" of product design to development tickets (currently in the xPub project board).

Add/Nominate a different corresponding author #55

Currently the "submitter" is assumed to be the corresponding author but is not always the case. The wizard should allow for the submitter to add details of somebody else as corresponding author, and the option to add themselves as another author (or not). Currently we rely on the person adding somebody else's details (despite the heading saying "Your details"). It is not yet clear what the GDPR/profile requirements would be around adding somebody else's details (as we would need verification/opt-in to be emailed?).

In addition, the same functionality should be available after submission, to allow the corresponding author to nominate somebody else as corresponding author. Not sure yet what should happen if the person then does not declare themselves to be an author (or if this should be possible).

Should we even be asking for email address or use the one from the ORCID? Would it make sense to show the email address used by the profile/ORCID and then grey it out with helper text to explain they have to use it or nominate somebody else? Or do we allow it to be edited but is starts a validation flow?

Could we look into the number of people submitting using somebody else's details as corresponding author? Check ORCID against entered email address.
