I may need a confirmation the following logic is correct: for eLife, the "aheadofprint" date (if article was PoA) and its "epublish" date are the same in the article XML.
It would only make sense to use a different "epublish" date if the date changed between the two editions, but it remains the same throughout.
We can still include an "aheadofprint" date in the history section, but it will be the same as the "epublish" date for the article.
Hi there
That's correct, the date is exactly the same, but once you produce the "final" version" the date is repeated, once in the history with an "aheadofprint" date and then in the epublish date. For articles that were POA'd only. If not POA'd then there is no "aheadofprint" date in the history.
Does that answer the question?
Cheers M
Great, thanks! That's how it is now as you describe above.
The tag plays an important part in the process of submitting Ahead of Print citations. If a citation is submitted using the "aheadofprint" attribute in the tag and is later replaced using the "ppublish" attribute, we recommend that the publisher "move" the Ahead of Print date to the tag in the Replacement File. This will enable the citation to retain the ahead of print publish date in PubMed. For more details, see our All About Ahead of Print page.
