Looking now, I'm not sure I see the issue. The XML was revised and delivered August 10th, maybe the fix is no longer required? http://s3.amazonaws.com/elife-cdn/elife-articles/07158/elife07158.xml
Hi there, yes indeed. I'll close this. Sorry. M
FROM NATHAN: I found the paper that you were referring to yesterday with an author footnote that I had not encountered before: http://elifesciences.org/content/4/e07158 Highwire are incorrectly handling this as a ‘Listed in alphabetical order with’ footnote. One instance of an author footnote ‘These authors are co-corresponding authors’ (/content/4/e07158) As agreed, we will just be posting the text providing in the XML as a footnote. We will make no attempt to determine what those footnotes that have a fn-type of ‘other’ are. We will just display them on the author popup. The text will just be output as is provided in the XML so if we wish to display author names as part of that footnote we will need to include those names in the footnote text.
We will just be targeting the first p tag which works for all existing examples. If a second p tag was provided then we would not display that in the popup but it could be displayed on the article and author info tab.
Action: Replace:
These authors are co-corresponding authors
With
All authors are co-corresponding authors
