<abstract abstract-type="executive-summary"> eLife digest #49

eLife publishes a layman's abstract for the purposes of reaching a wider audience. This is tagged as an executive-summary abstract.

Other than that, it has the standard eLife tagging for an abstract. Note, each eLife digest section contains the following elements in a designated order. eLife assigns sub DOIs to each of it's subsidiary items. See #48 for the list and further explanation
