Here's an example of a user that entered text into the People picker search but didn't appear to actually trigger the search

@chugginselifesciences would you mind removing this and adding to the UX repo until we've settled on solution(s)?
We're finding people don't use search much and should perhaps track how it's used to investigate.
I propose we move to a "search as you type" interaction for search instead of the "type a query and enter/click search"
It might be a good candidate for A/B testing to see if it increases usage. It might also help to move the search box for more visibility. We also have discussed defaulting search to the selected subject areas to help narrow it down.
It might be also be worth investigating/discussing whether we could improve the search UX using suggestions/auto-complete as often a "best-practice" search UX. This could be used to show matching subject areas or institutions etc.
