I would love to see the possibility to use this extension for translating.

Translation of what and how? Please elaborate.

You would say "translate" or something like this and then the word you want to translate Then it would translate it to a predefined language.

I tryed to add google translate to the options but it just opens the page.

Try http://translate.google.com/#en|es|%s. I know this is a cludgy solution, but you could make an entry for every language you want to use.
