Detect Monsters map just flashes on #107

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Cast spell Detect Monsters in 1.2

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Map flashes, but does not stay visible.  I would expect the map with the
monsters showing would stay until dismissed.

Is that the behavior in other ports, especially a tty one?

On the Windows port at least, the display shows the results of the spell until 
a key
is pressed.
