Crashes mainly occur after clearing out the Gnomish Mines, returning to the main
dungeon, and descending 3 or more levels below the Oracle.

Seems to be similar to issue 112

Since you commented on issue 112 as well, is the time component (3h+) vital for
this
to happen? Or did it occur even on short games, or when you interrupt your game
a lot?

No, time isn't vital. It seems to happen more often during longer games. I play
in
short spurts, frequently saving and picking up where I've left off. The game
seems to
slow down significantly during longer games; it can take up to a second for the
inventory screen to load sometimes. During these types of game sessions, the
game
doesn't respond immediately to movement commands. Sometimes, I tap somewhere
else,
thinking I've mis-tapped(?), and suddenly the character runs back and forth a
few
times between the two points. I usually slow the pace of my playing
significantly at
that point, but sometimes the game shows the error from issue 112 without
descending
stairs. Sometimes it happens after entering a command with a secondary prompt
(What
do you want to zap? What do you want to name your pet? etc.) and after
answering the
question.
I try to accumulate pets, particularly when I have or find a wand of polymorph.
After
transforming my lowly kittens into something a bit more mighty, I might have 3-5
high-level pets following me through the dungeon. This slows the game
noticeably, but
not dramatically or unexpectedly. I tend to survive longer in this type of
game, but
I rarely die because of issue 112.
When I reach special levels/rooms, like David's Treasure Zoo or a throne room,
the
monsters always seem to be generated sleeping. At a minimum, they usually don't
move
or fight back until attacked. The Quest levels do not experience this issue. The
Quest bosses definitely do not experience this issue!!!!!!!!
