I don't know exactly what rules there are for process exiting on the iPod, but
it
seems like the easiest way to implement this would be some way of embedding
Hearse
into iNethack. If there are restrictions on how long you have to shut down on
exit,
I'd run it at startup -- otherwise you could run it at shutdown.
It could be made a setting for those who don't want to use it at all. (I don't
know
why, maybe they are limiting their network traffic)

Couldn't you just run hearse when you started up the app and/or created a new
character, unless it had been run
within the last 24 hours (or something like that?)

Hearse is a Perl script btw :) The cute little thingie has about 1000 lines of
executable code (perldoc not included).
Do we want bones exchange with other (big-endian) platforms? Or a closed
iPhone/iPod-only system?

It would probably be best to keep it with iPhone/itouch devices because the
data will be more predictable
and less error prone.

Ditto -- you never know what options (or levels) someone else has compiled in
or out.
