Can't engrave with finger (item "-" in inventory)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. "type" 'e'
2. check menu of objects to engrave with
3. notice that you can't select '-', your finger

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
'-' or finger in the menu or a way to enter a letter through the virtual
keyboard.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ipod Touch 2G, OS3.0

Please provide any additional information below.
Finger engraving "E word" is a staple of early strategy.  Is there a way to
do it right now that I am missing?
