@bianchini88 Maybe add to this that the current way is using the recommended SSH way of cloning a repo, and that for https you need to follow different commands.

@bedroesb I am closing this. Part of the issue was a number of "offending" ssh keys that I generated in some remote past. The documentation can be improved in a distinct PR.
