Privacy enhancement: Alternative front-ends #1276

Open TheWebTech opened 1 year ago

Clear and concise description of the problem

It's not uncommon for folks to link to sites like Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, and others. Mastodon users tend to be more privacy/security aware. Some just want to reduce the amount of ads they see. Some want to reduce the amount of data big tech company's collect on them.

Suggested solution

Add opt-in support for alternative front-ends. Basically links to those resources would get replaced with the alternative front-end url. This feature 100% should be an opt-in feature probably opt-in per individual alternative front-end.
