Need wiki for Digitizing points

I love the idea of using the various digitizing flags that are available in
the Digitizing options but I simply can't figure out how to use them.  I
can see that, if I have the 'coordinates' flag turned on, I can place a
point at any location.  I can even see that, if I have ONLY the 'centre'
flag turned on, the points I'm trying to place snap to the centre of the
circles I hover the cursor over but I can't figure out how to accept these
suggested points.  The best I can do is use the 'place point' option
beneath the right mouse click but it keeps entering the 0,0,0 coordinate
rather than the circle's centre as is highlighted.

The 'end' flag seems to work if I click very close to the endpoint of an
existing line but I don't know how close is close enough.  I also can't
figure out how to use the 'midpoint' option at all.

I would love someone, who understands how this stuff works, to write a wiki
page explaining it to the rest of us.
