10 years ago Is there any chance you've changed the platform IDs? I ask this because I noticed that at least some of your misidentified entries belong to a completely different platform. The ES-scraper script relies on the platform ID's to match those on thegamesdb.net. To use one of your problem titles as an example:
Trying to identify Chaos Engine (E) 2P.smc.. <--- An SNES Game (platform ID=6) Game Found: Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues <--- Resolved to a Game Boy Game (platform ID=4)
ES-Scraper first looks up the platform ID on thegamesdb.net, then runs a query on that site using the resultant platform name as a filter. You can actually test this yourself by manually typing the get commands in a URL. Here is an example of how it works, using the problem title above:
- First the script would query for the platform name. We can simulate this query by entering http://thegamesdb.net/api/GetPlatform.php?id=6 into a browser. This will return an XML result with "Super Nintendo (SNES)" in the Platform attribute.
- Next the script would send another query using the file name and the platform name. Again, we can simulate this query by entering http://thegamesdb.net/api/GetGamesList.php?name=Chaos%20Engine%20%28E%29%202P&platform=Super%20Nintendo%20%28SNES%29 into a browser.
- NOTE: The first title in the result set is the correct game! This is the result you should have received if everything was working correctly.
If I do the same query using the wrong platform ID, I can duplicate your result:
- First the script would query for the platform name. We can simulate this query by entering http://thegamesdb.net/api/GetPlatform.php?id=4 into a browser (note wrong platform ID). This will return an XML result with "Nintendo Game Boy" in the Platform attribute.
- Next the script would send another query using the file name and the (wrong) platform name. Again, we can simulate this query by entering http://thegamesdb.net/api/GetGamesList.php?name=Chaos%20Engine%20%28E%29%202P&platform=Nintendo%20Game%20Boy into a browser.
- NOTE: The first title in the result set is the wrong game! In fact, it's the same result you got.

My naming scheme is pretty much Game Name (<region/special flags>) [2P|3P|4P|5P].ext
Game Name is the "pretty name" of a game region / special flags is e.g. NTSC, USA, Unl or similar last, but not least, I add, if the game supports 2 player, 3 player or more at the same time.
