Replace ptpb.pw with sprunge.us #348

Closed wasamasa closed 3 years ago

It seems ptpb.pw died on us: https://github.com/ptpb/pb/issues/246

This replaces its function with sprunge.us, a pastebin service that's very similar to ix.io. Let me know if you think I should do something to help with migration for users who decided to opt into ptpb.pw, like throwing an error telling them to migrate.

Lol. Jeeze, louise, that was quick ;D

Rock on Wasamasa!

Curious, however, any reason to favor sprunge over ix.io?

wasamasa commented 5 years ago

There is already ix.io support.

With regard to throwing an informative warning/error for ptpb - yes, that would probably be helpful. OTOH, once ptpb stops working, a quick visit to the (former) site makes it pretty obvious.

With regard to sprunge, I was curious if there were reasons to prefer it over the plethora of other paste services out there. Other than perhaps scratching a developer itch ;)

I was an early adopter of ptpb, not used else for years, and hence not to up on the "better" paste services.

Thanks again for helping out w/a rockin' IRC client.

Both sprunge.us and ix.io look similar, exist since a long time and are feature equivalent. If one is down, you can easily use the other. That's all there is to it. Sure, there are many alternatives, but I'll rather go for a proven one.
